Education System in Israel

Pre-primary, primary and secondary education in Israel is well organized. Higher education in Israel is centered around universities including research universities and academic colleges/teacher training colleges. There is also an Open University. Education is given a high priority in Israel and it is accorded priority. There is a Council of Higher Education to ensure quality assurance.

Pre-Primary Education in Israel

Education commences at a young age so that children can get a head-start. The emphasis is on socialization skills and development of language. 2 as well as 3 to 4 year olds in Israel attend some form of preschool. Preschools are sponsored by Israeli local authorities. Women’s organizations also operate day-cares. Special resources are provided for education for preschool in areas where there are economic hurdles.

Post doctoral fellowships can be pursued in the field of physical as well as biological sciences. These are offered to students from Israel as well as international students. Special programs lasting one year and/or one semester for students who wish to study in Israel are also offered.

Non-University Institutions of Higher Education in Israel 

Regional colleges for which students can apply also provide additional opportunities for those who cannot access universities. Undergraduate studies can commence at any of these colleges and completed at the main university campus. Other institutions of higher education grant only bachelor’s degree. Another type of higher education at non universities is at post secondary institutions which provide non academic programs of study in topics such as practical engineering, administration and more.
